WAKEFIELD — A cloudburst producing a shower that moved through Wakefield in the early evening hours of Thursday, Aug. 9 did little to dispel the cheerful spirits of those who attended the Hartshorne House’s 4th annual Ice Cream Social.

The beautiful summer weather usually draws a crowd to the event and this year was no exception. As in the past, Meletharb Ice Cream on Lowell Street donated more than $1,000 worth of ice cream, hot fudge and paper goods. This year’s flavors were vanilla, chocolate and Oreo cookie. There were toppings, too — whipped cream, strawberries, gummy candy, jimmies and sprinkles.

And Meletharb went a step further by donating a gift card that the lucky door prize winner took home.

The Ice Cream Social would not have been possible without the assistance provided by the Fundraising Committee, including Lisa Tecce, Abby Russell, Lois DeViller, Erin Fopiano, Mary Sullivan, Carole Curran and Jay Landers.

“We’d like to thank Meletharb for all the support they’ve given us,” said Tecce. “Their generosity means so much.”

Tecce also thanked everyone for coming to the Hartshorne House’s summer event and for contributing canned and boxed food for the Wakefield Interfaith Food Pantry.
