State Relay Championship on Sunday, April 29 at NRHS

BOXFORD — The NRHS boys’ spring track team outlasted the cold and wind Wednesday, April 11 at Masconomet Regional High School as they improved their record to 1-1 with a win over Newburyport 79.5-66.5 and a loss to Masco 75-70.

Overall event winners included double winner Billy Lord in the 110 meter hurdles (16.20) and the long jump (18’ 1”), Cam Chinchillo in the high jump (5’ 4”), the 4×100 relay team of Joey McCarthy, Grayson Budny, Jack Donohue and Billy Lord (47.5) and the 4×400 relay team of Casey Robarts, Andrew DeBenedetto, Cam Chinchillo and Nick Carpenter (3:56.4).

Senior captain Lionel Beane led the Hornets with 23 points overall in the 400 meter hurdles, discus, javelin and 110 meter hurdles.

Senior captains Nick Carpenter and Andrew Crotty scored points in the pole vault/400 meters and shot put/110 meter hurdles respectively. Freshman Jack Murphy, Ryan Good, Grayson Budny and Sam Capobianco scored their first varsity points as well.

The Hornets will take on Pentucket and Ipswich at NRHS on Wednesday April 25.
