The fees for a single player is $130, two players is $205 and three players or more is $245. The fee for Senior League Baseball is $160 and the Challenger League is free. WAKEFIELD — Eveline R. Whelchel, 91, of Wakefield died on Thursday, Jan. 22, at the Golden Living Elmhurst in Melrose. Born in Boston on Dec. 27, 1923, she was the daughter of the late George and Helen (Meehan) Laundry. Mrs. Whelchel was raised in East Boston and was a graduate of East Boston High School. She had been a Wakefield resident since 1963. Mrs. Whelchel was a member of the Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Wakefield. She worked for many years at the Crystal Laundromat on Elm Street. She enjoyed working on 1,000-piece jigsaw puzzles, reading and spending time with family and friends. She is survived by her husband Burl Whelchel; her son James A. WAKEFIELD — A. Brooks Russell, 84, of Wakefield died Thursday, Jan. 29, at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers. Born in Melrose on Feb. 14, 1930, he was the son of the late Clifford and Madge (Millar) Russell. Mr. Russell was raised in Wakefield and was a graduate of Wakefield High School, Class of 1948. He later attended the Bishop Lee School of Theater and apprenticed as an actor at the New London Barn Playhouse in New Hampshire. He enlisted in the Air Force and served during the Korean War and at Maguire Air Force Base in New Jersey. He joined the Jerome Cargill Productions in NYC as a director and directed shows across the U.S., Canada, Mexico and Bermuda. MELROSE — Snow began falling here, however lightly, early Monday afternoon. When it ended shortly before dawn Wednesday — after the rage and fury of a classic winter nor’easter — Melrose had received over two feet. And there’s more snow on the way. The city, like all other municipalities in eastern Massachusetts, was brought to an almost complete standstill. Many businesses were forced to close, school was cancelled for two days, the streets were virtually barren of everything except swirling, wind-blown flakes and the plow operators charged with cleaning up after them. When residents finally had a chance to dig out, they encountered knee-high drifts in a lot of places. The winter of 2014-15 swooped down harshly on Melrosians this week. Meet Lincoln finalists Feb. 9, 10...

MELROSE — Superintendent of Schools Cyndy Taymore announced the two finalists for the position of principal of the Lincoln School, Felicia Wettstone and Alison Donovan. The permanent position is vacant because Brent Conway was chosen to be principal of the Veterans Memorial Middle School. Taymore said the district will be hosting each candidate individually for a site visit to the Lincoln School on February 9 and February 10. Each site visits consists of an open meeting with parents, a visit to classrooms with an opportunity to observe instruction and meet students, lunch with the administrative team, an interview with the Superintendent, and a meeting with the Lincoln staff.
