By DAN MARGARITA MELROSE — The Wakefield High softball team traveled to Melrose Friday and was batted around by the Melrose offense, losing 8-4 at Melrose Commons. The game had originally been scheduled as a home game for Wakefield but with Vet’s Field in poor condition after recent rain the game was moved to Melrose. Melrose wasted little time in getting on the scoreboard. With one out in the bottom of the first Rebecca Dumont singled and stole second. A ground out to second put Dumont on third, from where she scored on a triple by Sam Farrell. Born in Boston on July 30, 1964 he was the beloved son of Annette K. (Russo) Pelton of Medford and William W. Pelton, II of Florida. Billy was raised in Watertown and Waltham and was a graduate of Waltham High School, Class of 1982. He had a passion for basketball and was a fan of both the Boston Celtics and the San Antonio Spurs.
