Published March 1, 2019 MELROSE — Marie Bernadette “Bernie” Williams, 90, passed away at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital on February 26, 2019. Bernie was born in Malden on August 7, 1928 to the late John and Grace (McDermott) Lucey. She was raised in Wakefield and graduated from Wakefield High School. Mrs. Williams married her husband John in 1950 and moved to Melrose. They started raising their family of eight in the Hesseltine section of Melrose and have been residents ever since. Bernie was a longtime member of Most Blessed Sacrament Church in Wakefield; she was a member of the Ladies Guild, the CFM and was very involved with the church for the past 68 years. Published March 1, 2019 MARSHFIELD — Jean (Canole) Doherty, 91, of Marshfield, formerly of Peabody and Melrose, passed away on February 22, 2019. Jean was born in Chelsea on April 15, 1927 to the late James and Ruth (Barry) Canole. She was raised in Revere and graduated from Immaculate Conception High School in 1945.   Jean and her husband Ed were married for 66 years. They settled in Melrose and raised their family there. Later they moved to Peabody where they lived for 15 years before spending the last two years in Marshfield.   Jean worked as a clerk in the Treasurer’s Office of Revere City Hall for many years. Marie was born in Medford on July 30, 1928 to the late William and Gertrude (McGonagle) Thompson. She was raised in Medford, graduated from Medford High School and was a lifelong resident of Medford. Marie was a dedicated homemaker and had also worked for many years as a receptionist for doctors at Medford Associates and at Malden Internist. He was the son of the late Isadore and Katherine (Kallas) Pappas and brother of the late Asimina Tournis, whose roots stemmed from Chios, Greece. Chris is survived by his beloved wife Bess of 60 years, his daughter Catherine Christina and husband Bill, his son Lee Pappas and Lisa, many loving nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews and an abundance of friends.
