MIAA announces sport modifications for fall season...

The Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association recently announced modifications for each fall sport to follow this season.  Each sport’s modification guideline begins with general guidelines to be followed by all sports.  Pre-contest screening: Athletes and coaches may not attend practices or games if they are isolated for illness or quarantined for exposure to infection. Athletes and coaches who have symptoms of COVID-19 should follow DPH guidance regarding isolation and testing. Those diagnosed with the virus may return to school once they have been afebrile for 24 hours and with improvement in respiratory symptoms and once 10 days have passed since symptoms first appeared. Written clearance from a health care provider will also be required in order to return to sport. Those exposed to COVID should not participate in practices...

R. Linda Miceli, 76

Published in the August 31, 2020 edition. WAKEFIELD — R. Linda (Blackler) Miceli, 76, of Wakefield, formerly of Somerville, died peacefully at home on August 22, 2020. Born on April 12, 1944, she was the beloved wife and companion of 56 years to Salvatore J. Miceli. She was the loving mother of Eric Miceli and his wife Linda of Westford, Paul Miceli and his wife Ann of Tyngsborough and Philip Miceli and his wife Ellen of Haverhill. He was the proud and loving grandmother of Jessica Miceli and Nicholas Miceli of Tyngsborough. Linda was the sister of Jean Kelly and her husband Robert of Tewksbury, Harold Blackler of Medford and was an aunt of but like sister to Jan Jamieson of Dracut. She was the sister-in-law of Veronica and Thomas Sullivan of Potomac, Md....

Rosemary A. Robertson, 88

Published in the August 31, 2020 edition. WAKEFIELD — Rosemary A. Robertson, 88, of Wakefield, died Friday, August 28, 2020 at the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital. Born in Boston on June 14, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Earl and Catherine (Hampe) Nickerson. Mrs. Robertson was raised in Quincy and Dorchester and was a graduate of Hyde Park High School. She had also attended Boston University. A longtime Wakefield resident for 63 years, she was a parishioner at the Most Blessed Sacrament Parish and was a member of the church’s Ladies Guild and church choir. She had also been a longtime employee for the Town of Wakefield, having split her time between the Town Hall and Police Department. Most recently, she and her husband had moved to the Brightview Senior Living Center in Wakefield....

James A. Chapman Jr., 78

Published in the August 31, 2020 edition. He was born on January 21, 1942 in Orangeburg, S.C., the son of James and Cora (McMichael) Chapman. Jim graduated from Berkeley High School in Moncks Corner, S.C. before enlisting in the U.S. Navy, serving during the Vietnam era. While enlisted, Jim trained to become an electrician. Upon his release, he worked for several contractors before starting his own company, J. A. Chapman and Sons Electrical Contractors in Wakefield, Mass. In 2007, Jim moved to Maine, continuing his electrical career. Jim enjoyed hunting and fishing and was an avid gardener. He would start his plants from seed over the winter months then share them with his neighbors. He was unbelievably smart and patented his own invention of the “Chapman Bracket.” He loved music and played the trumpet...
