Six All-Stars named for Wakefield’s league champion XC team...

Published in the November 30, 2020 edition. WAKEFIELD — The Middlesex League’s boys’ cross country coaches met recently to vote on All-Stars for the 2020 season. Six Wakefield Warriors were named to the Freedom Division All-Star team: senior captain Jonathan D’Ambrosio, senior Colin Rudy, junior Thomas Dowd, junior Ajay Haridasse, sophomore Leith Jones and sophomore Ben Stratton.  The Warriors won their fifth consecutive Middlesex League Freedom Division title this season as they went undefeated at 4-0.  Wakefield led the way in the Freedom with six All-Stars named. Burlington was next with four, followed by two from Melrose, one from Stoneham and one from Wilmington.  Burlington senior James Johnson was named MVP.  All six All-Stars played a big role in Wakefield’s championship-clinching win over Burlington in the last meet of the season on Nov. 14....

WAKEFIELD — William B. “Bill” Lang, 76, of Wakefield passed away on Tuesday November 17, 2020 at Massachusetts General Hospital.  Born in Malden on March 8, 1944, Bill was one of six children of the late Bertil G and Annie E. (Hamilton) Lang. He grew up in Dorchester and graduated from South Boston High School. Bill met and later married his beloved Paulette “PJ” Leone and shared many years together. Bill worked in the leather industry for many years. When the leather industry had difficulties, Bill moved to driving a limousine for Boston Coach Corporation for 21 years. Bill loved people. BRADENTON, FL — Stanislaw “Stanley” Rossa, age 97, of Bradenton, FL, and  formerly of Wakefield, died peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday, November 27 after a brief illness. Born in Poznan, Poland on November 13, 1923, he was the son of the late Jan and Anna (Kulchinski) Rossa. Mr. Rossa was raised in Poland and moved to the United States in 1949 after the war. He first settled in Chelsea and Revere before making his home in Wakefield, where he had been a longtime resident. Stanley was the proud owner of OK Shank and S&R Industries, shoe manufacturing businesses, until his retirement. In 1990 he made his home in Bradenton, FL. He was a faithful Catholic and was a member of St. Florence Church in Wakefield...

Stoneham land for sale – again...

By MARK SARDELLA WAKEFIELD — Hoping that the fourth time is the charm, the town will once again try to sell a vacant parcel of land at 124 Green St. in Stoneham that is owned by the town of Wakefield. The town has thrice previously attempted to sell the land — in 2006, 2009 and 2011. Town Administrator Stephen P. Maio reminded the Town Council last week that when the town had last tried to sell the property in 2011, a request for proposals was put out with a minimum bid of $150,000.
