Purcell is Freedom Division MVP

WAKEFIELD — The Wakefield girls’ track and field team celebrated their perfect 2018 regular season by have ten student athletes named 2018 Middlesex League All-Stars.

Captain Allee Purcell, a senior on her way to compete for the Merrimack track and field team, concluded her phenomenal track and field career with an MVP award as she got top honors in the Freedom Division. Purcell was named an All-Star in the 400 meters. She broke the existing school record in the 400 with a 59.20 at the Div. 3 State Meet. Purcell also competed a multitude of other events including the long jump. 

Captain Ana Lucas was the other representative from the class of 2018. Lucas made the list for her work in the 100 meter sprint. 

Junior Eadeen Beck had a great season in the throwing events. She was named an All-Star in the shot put.

The Warriors had plenty of underclassmen represent as All-Stars in 2018 as five sophomores and two freshmen were named to the list.

The captains for next season were named also named recently. Ava Vaughan, Michelle Maffee, Eadeen Beck and Isabella Kehoe were named captains for next season, replacing Lucas, Purcell, Gillian Russell, Yvonne Lucas and Samantha Nimblett.
