Watchmaker and jeweler owned Lynnfield Jewelers

OBIT_Gulezian_Barkev_webLYNNFIELD — Barkev “Barkey” Gulezian, 96, formerly of Lynnfield, passed away Thursday, July 20, 2017 at Goldenview Healthcare Center in Meredith, N.H.

Barkey was born February 12, 1921 in Haverhill, the son of the late Peter and Pauline (Terzian) Gulezian. A watchmaker and jeweler by trade, Barkey owned and operated Lynnfield Jewelers for 32 years. Barkey was a resident of Lynnfield for over 60 years before relocating to Meredith last year.

Barkey enjoyed woodworking and gardening. Throughout his life, Barkey was a pillar of the Lynnfield community. Along with being a highly-respected jeweler, Barkey was a trusted mentor and friend to all. He embodied community service in his involvement with organizations such as Rotary Club, Boy Scouts, Golden Fleece Masonic Lodge and the Historical Society of Lynnfield. Barkey also volunteered through his church by helping prepare meals for Bread and Roses of Lawrence.

Barkey is survived by his wife of 69 years, Hasmig “Meg” (Kasparian) Gulezian as well as a son, Dean Gulezian and his wife Janet, and a daughter Janice Cassidy and her husband Timothy and his four grandchildren, Christopher Cassidy and his wife Sara, Jennifer Phillips and her husband Mark, Matthew Cassidy, and Peter Cassidy and his wife Claudia, as well as two great-grandchildren, Abigail and Harrison Phillips, two brothers, Robert and Richard Gulezian, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Barkey was predeceased by two brothers and a sister.

A private burial will be held in Forest Hill Cemetery in Lynnfield. 

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, July 29 at 11 a.m. at the Lynnfield Centre Congregational Church, 5 Summer St.
