WRENTHAM — Although Saturday’s All State Championship did not go exactly as planned this weekend, the Warrior boys’ cross country team has a lot to smile about as it completed one of the best seasons in school history.

Despite not having their best performance the boys finished 8th overall in the Division 1 race, a new territory for them after being bumped up from the small school division of last year. The new alignment placed the Warriors in the large school division because of the 983 student population at Wakefield Memorial High School. All season long they have risen to the challenge and performed at a high level.

St John’s Shrewsbury came away with the victory which is the first All State championship in their school’s history. Lowell placed 2nd, Wellesley 3rd, Concord-Carlisle 4th, Newton North 5th, Lexington 6th, Needham 7th, Wakefield 8th, Mansfield 9th, St. John’s Prep 10th. There were 20 teams that qualified for the championship race from the previous week’s divisional state championship races.

The individual winner was UNC bound, Tristan Shelgren of St. John’s Prep who ran a time of 15:15.

Junior Rohan Singhvi had an excellent run placing 25th in a personal best time of 16:16, beating many high profile names from across the state.

Tommy Lucey placed 60th in a time of 16:40 to finish his high school xc career.

Matt Greatorex fought hard and never quit as he placed 63rd, fighting a cramp during the race.

Sophomore Matt Roberto was once again the team’s fourth runner, placing 93rd in 17:01.

Junior Billy Stevens placed 112th to round out the scoring and finished with a time of 17:15.
