BOSTON — The WMHS boys’ indoor track and field team competed for the last time as a group in the Division 4 State Meet at the Reggie Lewis Center. The Warriors came ready to compete against the best in the state and left town with a 3rd place team trophy and plenty of individual highlights.

In the mile, senior Matt Greatorex was second with a 4:27.03. The UMass Lowell track commit will move on to All-States next week. Junior Carter Margolis also ran a great mile and was 8th from the unseeded heat, with a time of 4:38.21. Senior Riley Brackett ran a 4:44.58.

In the 1000 meters, sophomore Tanner Jellison left it all on the track for a 3rd-place finish and a new personal best of 2:37.28. Jellison will also move on to All-States. Junior Billy Stevens ran a 2:49.22.

In the 600 meters, senior Ryan Ritchie tan a 1:30.97 and sophomore Trevor Zupan finished right behind him at 1:31.00.

Junior Brian Smith ran a 38.19 in the 300 meters.

Over in the shot put circle, the Warriors had two seniors make plenty of noise as Wakefield was the only team to have two throwers finish in the top 10. Patrick Redmond took 3rd with a 48’6 and Alex Joly was 6th with a big personal-best throw of 45’1.5”.

Senior Sam Morey ran an 8.98 in the hurdles.

In the 55 meter dash, sophomore Ryan Obear ran a personal-best 6.91.

In the high jump, junior Tommy Galvin had a personal-best jump of 5’10.

The Warriors had four competing in the two mile run at States. Sophomore Matt Roberto was 8th with a time of 10:11.13. Junior Casey Brackett ran a 10:26.08 for 10th, followed by junior Rohan Singhvi (10:29.04) and senior David Lee (10:56.83).

Greatorex, Zupan, Jellison and Smith ran a 3:42.02 in the 4×400 realy and Obear, Jared Hurley, Henry Stikeman and Smith ran a personal best time of 1:35.78 in the 4×200 relay for the 7th.

The best highlight from the relay teams at states came from the 4×800 team of Greatorex, Stevens, Margolis and Jellison who took first place with a personal best 8:21.73.
