WAKEFIELD — Charles B. McGuire, Sr., a life-long resident of Wakefield, passed away peacefully at Bear Hill Rehabilitation and Nursing Center on January 11, 2018 just short of his 92nd birthday.

Charlie was the beloved and devoted husband of wife Veronica from Dublin, with whom he recently celebrated their 60th anniversary. Loving father of Charles McGuire, Jr., and Maryann Stickney and her husband Norman of Wakefield, and beloved grandfather of Richard Stickney of Brighton and Patrick Stickney and his partner Ashley of Tewksbury, and great grandfather of five-month-old Talia. Loyal and devoted brother of his sister Nancy Martin of Paradise, Calif., and his late sister Marjorie McGuire of Wakefield. He also leaves behind heart-broken nephew William Martin and his wife Adel of Pine Mountain Club, Calif., and nieces Debbie and Rosemary Martin of Paradise, Calif.

Charlie was a member of the Wakefield High School class of 1944 and was deployed in the Navy shortly after his birthday. Charlie worked as a machinist at Transitron in Wakefield for over 20 years and then as a custodian at the Galvin Middle School from 1976 till his retirement in 1991.

Charlie’s funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Tuesday, January 16, at 10:30 a.m., followed by a funeral Mass in St Joseph Church, 173 Albion Street, Wakefield at 11:30 a.m. Interment to follow at Forest Glade Cemetery, Wakefield. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the funeral home on Monday, January 15, from 4-7 p.m.
