WAKEFIELD — A 21-year-old Lynn man was arrested Friday afternoon for operating a motor vehicle under the influence of drugs (marijuana) after the 2018 Honda Civic he was driving hit a parked car on Farm Street and flipped over.

Police received multiple 911 calls about the crash at about 4:15 p.m. on Friday. Arriving police found the Honda with heavy front end damage. The rear of the parked 2012 Toyota Camry also suffered major damage.

Police reported that when they spoke to the driver, Brian A. Hernandez of 187 Den Quarry Rd. in Lynn, his eyes were glassy and bloodshot and he appeared lethargic and confused. Police also detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from the Honda and located a small quantity of pot in the car. After conducting a series of field sobriety tests, police arrested Hernandez on the OUI drugs charge. He was also charged with speeding in school zone.

Both vehicles had to be towed from the scene. Firefighters swept up debris from the roadway.

At about 1:30 a.m. on Friday, a motorist reported a possible injured turtle in the area of Vernon Street and Thistledale Road. Police removed the reptile from the roadway and sent it on its way.

One driver was cited for failure to yield to oncoming traffic after a two-car crash in the area of Vernon and Lowell streets at about 8:45 Friday morning. Police said that a 2013 Subaru Impreza driven by a Middleton man was traveling south on Vernon Street when a 2014 Toyota Camry driven by a Wakefield woman pulled out of a parking lot, resulting in the crash. The Wakefield woman was cited.

At about 11 a.m. on Friday, a Fox Road resident reported that a laptop had been stolen from a vehicle.

Police took a report at about
7 p.m. on Friday regarding the theft of two packages from the front steps of a home on North Avenue. The contents were valued at about $66.

On Saturday at about 11:45 a.m., a caller reported two males trespassing behind Cravings at 389 Main St. When the caller
confronted the pair, they allegedly threatened him. Police located the involved individuals near Brightview and spoke to them about their behavior.

Between midnight and 1:30 a.m. on Sunday, police responded to three calls for loud parties. The revelers in each case agreed to quiet down.

A 24-year-old Wakefield woman was taken to the hospital with a wrist injury following a three-car, rear-end chain reaction crash in the area of North Avenue and the Route 128 off-ramp at about 8:45 p.m. on Sunday. Police, fire and Action Ambulance all responded to the scene.

Police said that the Wakefield woman drove her 2011 Chevy Camaro into the rear of a 1999 Dodge Ram driven by a Wakefield man, which then hit the rear of a 2017 Volkswagen driven by another Wakefield man.

At about 10 p.m. on Sunday, a Wave Avenue woman told police that an unknown man entered her home. Upon seeing the homeowner, the man said that he “must have the wrong house” and left.

He was described as a white male in his 20s with a short beard and wearing a green hoodie. Police searched the area with the assistance of K9 Dozer but were unable to locate the suspect.

The Fire Department responded to 24 calls over the weekend, including 15 for medical aid.
