WAKEFIELD — Diane Elaine Read, 78, died Monday, January 8, 2018 at the Winchester Hospital.
Born in Stoneham on September 10, 1939 she was the daughter of the late Walter Avery, Sr. and Priscilla (Hatch) Avery.
Mrs. Read was raised in Wakefield and was a graduate of Wakefield High School, Class of 1957. She had worked at and retired from Mellon Financial as a Senior Investigator and had also worked at the Marshalls Executive Office in Andover, American Mutual Insurance Co. in Wakefield, and had worked as a health aide with hospice. Mrs. Read had served as a Cub Scout Leader for Pack 701. She had a love of Christmas and all things family. She adored her children and grandchildren and loved spending as much time with them as possible.
She was the beloved wife of the late John Edward Read, whom she married in 1960. She was the loving mother of Jack Read of Marlborough, Kim Fazio and her husband Michael of Wakefield, and Rhonda “Roni” McGee and her husband Steven of Pelham, N.H. She was the sister of Walter Avery and his wife Jenny of Michigan. She is also survived by her adoring grandchildren: Randy Fazio, Taylor and Jessica McGee, and Adam, David, and Amelia Read; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Her funeral services will be private. Arrangements are in the care of the McDonald Funeral Home, Wakefield.
