Donations to Emergency Fund top $25K

MELROSE — Donations to the Melrose Emergency Fund topped $25,000 this week, with the help of money raised during Giacomo’s celebrity busboy fundraiser as well as donations from the Melrose High School Boys and Girls Cross Country teams and Gately Funeral Service, as well as several memorial donations for Melrosians Michelle Paone and Stephen Baldi.

The Emergency Fund provides one-time help to Melrose families who are going through financial emergencies. It is administered by the City but consists entirely of donations from the public. The aid may range from providing a winter coat for a child to helping a family pay their bills while dealing with a serious illness. While every situation is different, the fund focuses on basic needs such as food, fuel, and utilities: “The goal of the fund is that no one in Melrose will go cold or hungry,” said Mayor Dolan.

During this holiday fundraiser, names of the donors will be published every week. Here are the most recent donors:
