WAKEFIELD — Edith “Edie” (Foss) Curran, 56, passed away while surrounded by family on February 7, 2018. Ms. Curran was born on March 16, 1961, to (the late) Ernest and Priscilla (Stormont) Foss. A 1979 graduate of Wakefield High School, Edie lived most of her life in Wakefield. After some years in the medical and drafting fields, she was known to many in town as the third-generation owner and obedience trainer of The Ox Bow Pet Shop, a family business opened by John and Beatrice (Peddle) Stormont in 1946.

Edie took pride in continuing the old-values small business model that her grandparents and parents built, finding enjoyment in the business as a fixture for community. She was an avid researcher of family history and genealogy. Edie enjoyed traveling and spending summers at the family home in Roseway, Nova Scotia. After relocating to Arizona for health, she looked forward to family trips to Sedona, Flagstaff and most recently, the Grand Canyon.

Edith often remarked that life should be a celebration and hoped to be memorialized through intentionally celebrating one’s own. Her family remembers her living with strength, positivity and bravery through illness. She is survived by her son, Ryan Curran of Portland, Ore., daughter, Kelly Curran and grandson, Aaron Canestaro, both of Wakefield, sister, Gayle Foss and mother, Priscilla Stormont Foss, both of Va. She was predeceased by her father, Ernest Foss of Wakefield.
