BumsteadGagnonobit-webWAKEFIELD — Emily A. Bumstead-Gagnon, 55, of Wakefield died unexpectedly on Tuesday, August 29, at the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital.

Born in Boston on January 14, 1962, she was the daughter of the late Robert M. and Lou Ann (Neth) Bumstead.

She was raised in Wakefield and was a 1980 graduate of Wakefield Memorial High School. Ms. Bumstead-Gagnon retired as a consultant from New England Financial Services with expertise in both Human Resources and Sales Marketing.

A talented artist, Emily was a loving caregiver to her parents and her former husband, the late Michael Gagnon.

She was a member of the Friends of Lake Quannapowitt  organization and was active in local politics for many years.

She is survived by her son, David R. Gagnon of Wakefield; her four sisters: Ellen F. Cummings, Susan B. Chanley and her husband Paul J. Chanley, Margaret L. Jordan and her husband Kenny Jordan, all of Wakefield, and Leslie U. Muzzio and her husband Doug Muzzio of Michigan. She is also remembered by many dear, loving friends and supporters among them her neighbor, Glenn Clark of Wakefield. Emily is survived by her many nieces and nephews: Ginny Cummings, Tommy Jordan, Adam Chanley, and Rachel Chanley. Emily was extremely close to her mother-in-law, Doris Gagnon, of Wakefield, who has become “Grammy Doris” to the entire family. She is also grateful for her many talented, fun, and supportive cousins and her Auntie Beth (Bumstead) Conrad and her husband, Gordon, of Lexington.

A funeral service will be held in the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Friday at 11 a.m. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the Funeral Home prior to the service starting at 9 a.m. Interment will be at Forest Glade Cemetery in Wakefield.
