LEWISTON, Maine — George D. Collins, 89, of Lewiston, Maine, formerly of Candia, N.H., passed away peacefully at the Hospice House of Androscoggin Home Healthcare & Hospice in Auburn, Maine, surrounded by loved ones on Sunday, September 2, 2018.

Born in Melrose, Mass. on August 30, 1929, he was the son of George A. and Marguerite Balch Collins. He was raised and educated in Massachusetts, and graduated from Wakefield High School in 1947. George proudly served as a sergeant in the United States Marine Corps. He was the past Master of Rockingham Lodge No. 76, Candia, N.H. and completed the Scottish rites to become a 32nd degree mason. He was a member of the American Legion and the Kora Shriners. Prior to his retirement, he was an account executive at Hallmark Cards for 25 years.

Survivors include his wife, Jeanne Collins of Lewiston, Maine, his children, Christine Coronis and husband Chuck of East Kingston N.H., grandson Matthew Coronis and his fiancee Shalini Saloo of Columbia Md., George Collins and his wife Linda of Munich, Germany, grandchildren Sophia Collins, Anna Collins, and Gavin Collins, stepdaughter Marie San Nicolas and husband Anthony of Acworth, Ga., step-grandchildren, Brian San Nicolas, Daniel San Nicolas and, Catie San Nicolas, stepson Patrick Dionne and wife Debbie of Eustis, Fla., step-grandchildren, Tanya and husband Matt Dempsey, step great-grandchildren Jordan, Beau and Reagan Dempsey, step-granddaughter, Brandy Castro, and husband Elias, stepson Timothy Dionne of Durango, Colo., stepdaughter Celine Martin and fiance Toby Chipman of Steuben, Maine, step-grandchildren, Emily, Kelsey and Jacob Martin and wife Shai, step-great-grandchildren Renee and Caleb. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife Joanne Cox Collins.

Visitation will be held at the Albert & Burpee Funeral Home, 253 Pine Street, Lewiston, Maine, on Friday, 4 – 7 p.m. A funeral mass will be celebrated Saturday,
