WAKEFIELD — The Middlesex League girls’ indoor track and field coaches met recently to vote on this year’s All-Star selections in both the Freedom and Liberty divisions.

Wakefield led the Freedom balloting with seven athletes. Freedom champion Stoneham had six, while Melrose had six and the 4×200 relay team.

Watertown had five All-Stars including co-MVP Emily Koufos and Wilmington had four All-Stars and co-MVP Alexcia Luna. Burlington finished with one All-Star.

Making the list as All-Stars for the Warriors was senior Ana Lucas, sophomore Olivia Lucey, freshman Samantha Nett, sophomore Katie Sweeney, junior Eadeen Beck, senior Julia Brown and sophomore Olivia Fetherston.

Lucas was one of three athletes selected in the 55 meter dash. Lucas was an All-Star in the dash last year as well.

Sweeney made the list in the 600 meters, and Nett got the nod in the 1000 meter.

Brown and Beck made the All-Star list for the second straight year in the shot put. The two were consistently near the top of every throwing event at most meets this year and combined with Samantha Nimblett to win the shot put relay at the D4 State Relays.

Fetherston had plenty of milestones this season as she was named an All-Star the high jump. Fetherston won the Middlesex League Meet and qualified for States in the high jump.

In the Liberty Division, division champion Woburn led the way with 11 All-Stars selected. Lexington was next with six selections while Belmont had five, Winchester had four, Reading had three and Arlington had one.
