TAMWORTH, N.H. — Gordon Eli Buffett, 84, of Tamworth, N.H., formerly of Wakefield, died Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at the Laconia Region General Hospital in New Hampshire.

Born in Medford on December 25, 1933 he was the son of the late William G. and Pheobe (Seymour) Buffett.

Gordon was raised in Wakefield and a graduate of Wakefield High School. Upon graduating high school Gordon joined the Army and traveled throughout Europe and played ice hockey. After the Army, Gordon attended Bridgton Academy where he was a member of the Academy’s ice hockey team. He then went on to receive a bachelor’s degree in Business from UMass Amherst. He went to work for MassMutual in 1963 and retired in 1992. Gordon became a single parent in 1973 raising his three children long before it was a social norm. His hobbies included boating and reading. He also enjoyed spending time at the family cabin on Moose Pond in Maine.

He was the loving father of Jennifer Buffett Greene and her husband Michael Greene of Marathon, Fla., Matthew Buffett and his wife Laura Freeman Buffett of Tamworth, N.H., and the late Geoffrey Buffett. He was the adoring grandfather of Michael J. Greene, Patrick W. Greene and wife Ashley Webb Greene, Caitlin A. Greene and fiancée Gina Marie Franklin, Laura Buffett Jackson, Elizabeth Buffett, and great-grandfather of Maebelle Kay Greene and Avery Rose Franklin.

His funeral service will be held in the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Monday, November 26 at 12 noon. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held prior to the service beginning at 11 a.m. Interment, Lindenwood Cemetery, Stoneham.
