WAKEFIELD — Jacqueline E. Herook, 85, of Haverhill, a former resident of Wakefield and Reading, died Sunday, September 10 in Haverhill.
Born in Melrose on November 9, 1931 she was the daughter of the late Donald P. and Doris (Eaton) Ilsley.
Mrs. Herook was raised in Melrose and was a graduate of Melrose High School, Class of 1949. She later made her home in Wakefield and then Reading for many years. She was retired from the North Andover Public Schools where she had worked for many years. Mrs. Herook was a direct descendant of Governor William Bradford, first Governor of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, and she was also a member the “Massachusetts Society of Mayflower Descendants.”
She was the beloved wife of the late John T. Herook. She was the loving mother of David J. Herook and his wife Lorraine of Bradford, Donald B. Herook and his wife Sandra of Haverhill and Alan T. Herook of Bradford. She was the sister of Phyllis Baker of FL and the late Norman Ilsley and Winnifred Dunnett. She is also survived by her loving grandchildren: David, Jason, Stacy and Nakira Herook.
Mrs. Herook’s family would like to thank the staff of the Hannah Duston Nursing Home of Haverhill for the compassion and care given to their mother during her time there.
Her funeral service will be held in the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Friday, September 15 at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Wyoming Cemetery in Melrose. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the funeral Home on Thursday from 4-8 p.m.
