WATERTOWN — John A. DiComandrea, 89, died on Friday, Nov. 17.

Known as “Sonny” and “Coach Deke,” John was an educator, elite road runner and legendary track and field and cross country coach.

He is a member of both the Wakefield Memorial High School Athletic Hall of Fame and the Mass. State Track Coaches Association Hall of Fame.

He was the beloved brother of Carol, Joseph, Robert DiComandrea, Mary Ann Troutman and the late Alfred, Nancy, Rose Marie and Sally. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be from the Nardone Funeral Home, 373 Main St., Watertown on Wednesday November 22, at 8 a.m. followed by a 9 a.m. funeral Mass in St. Patrick’s Church, 212 Main St., Watertown.

Burial will take place in St. Patrick’s Cemetery with Military Honors.

Visiting hours Tuesday, November 21, from 12 noon to 2 p.m. and 4 to 8 p.m.
