PEABODY — John L. Lawlor, formerly of North Reading, passed away on November 18, 2017.

John graduated from Arlington High School. He served his country in World War II, retired from Raffi and Swanson, Inc. in Wilmington, and then spent many winters in Florida, enjoying volunteering at Give Kids the World. He was a charter member of the Historical Society of Newfield, Maine, and was a member of B&MMR Historical Society.

The beloved husband of 67 years to Barbara C. (Cook), he was the son of the late James R. and Margaret (Troup) Lawlor. He was the brother of the late James R. Lawlor, Jr. and the late Isabelle (Lawlor) (Talbert) Mitchell, and the brother-in-law of Barbara Cook of Maine. He was the uncle of Margaret Robbins of Burlington, Sheila and her husband Lawrence Dutile of Tennessee, James R. Lawlor III of Florida, and Brian Talbert of Tennessee. John is also survived by several grandnieces and grandnephews and great-grandnieces and grandnephews.

A memorial Mass will be held for John on Friday, Dec. 1, in the Brooksby Village Chapel, 100 Brooksby Village Dr., Peabody, at 12 p.m.
