SAUGUS — John P. Seymour, 77, of Saugus, formerly of Wakefield, passed away at his home on January 5, 2018 in the arms of his beloved wife of 57 years, Patricia.

John was born in Everett on May 16, 1940 and was the son of the late Lester L. and Amelia (Coletti) Seymour.

John was raised in Wakefield and a was a graduate of Wakefield High School Class of 1958. He was a Wakefield resident for 53 years before moving to Saugus in 1993. He retired from Charles T. Main after 45 years of service. John loved vacationing in Aruba and loved his family most of all, especially the love of his life, Patricia. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and watching them participate in anything they chose. John was a proud member of the 1957 Middlesex League Champion Wakefield Warriors football team, coached by William Tighe.

John was the beloved husband of Patricia A. (Davidson) Seymour. He was the loving father of John R. Seymour and his wife Lynn of Harvard, Robert J. Seymour and his wife Sharyn of Dracut, and Stephen P. Seymour and his wife Wendy of Billerica. He was “Papa” to John, Sarah, Stephanie, Ashlyn, and Emma. He was the devoted brother of Lester Seymour of Boxford and Anne Kenney of Wakefield.

His funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Friday at 9 a.m., followed by a funeral Mass in St. Joseph Church 173 Albion St. Wakefield at 10 a.m. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the funeral home on Thursday from 4-8 p.m. Interment, Forest Glade Cemetery, Wakefield.
