MELROSE — Joyce A. Petrino, 76, Melrose resident, passed away on Thursday, June 6, 2019 with her family by her side at Winchester Hospital.

Born in Melrose on October 24, 1942, Joyce is one of two children of the late Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Lattanzi. She grew up in Everett and graduated from Everett High School in 1960. In her earlier years, she enjoyed spending summers with her family on the Cape.

Joyce would meet and later marry her beloved Philip M. Petrino, and they would go on to share 47 great years together.

Family was first and foremost to Joyce. She was actively involved in their lives and never missed any of their school functions and sporting events. She took great joy in planning the yearly vacations that she and her family went on to North Conway, N.H.

Cooking and baking were two of Joyce’s passions, and if she wasn’t in the kitchen, you could find her reading a cookbook, or watching a cooking show. She also enjoyed knitting. She was known for making her children and grandchildren hats, mittens, and slippers. If someone needed some clothing altered, Joyce was the lady for the job. There wasn’t an article of clothing she couldn’t make or fix.

Christmastime was cherished. She always looked forward to putting up her Christmas Village and family and friends from all over would come to see it. She took great joy in going shopping for gifts for her family.

Joyce lived for her family and friends. Her warmth, generosity, and willingness to drop anything to help someone in need will be missed by all who knew her.

Joyce is the beloved wife of Philip M. Petrino with whom she shared 47 years of marriage. Loving mother of Robert Petrino and his wife Nicole of Wakefield, Mary Henehan and her husband Paul of Lynnfield, and Kathleen DiCato and her husband Jimmy of Wakefield. Dear sister of Alfred Lattanzi and his wife Dolores of Everett. Cherished Nona of Bobby, Kaylie, Brenden, Deven, Jake, and Luke. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends will gather in honor of Joyce’s life at Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 1155 Main St., Wakefield for her funeral Mass on Wednesday, June 12 at 10 a.m. Interment in Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose. For online tribute or directions: RobinsonFuneralHome.com.
