LYNNFIELD — The field hockey team won both of its games last week, improving the Pioneers’ overall record to 3-1.

The Pioneers blanketed Hamilton-Wenham 5-0 on Sept. 15, which was the locals’ second shutout in a row.

Lynnfield scored three times in the first half and twice more in the second as they overwhelmed the Generals. Laura Bockoff scored the first two goals while Lily Rothwell made it 3-0 just before the half.

Captain Ashley Barrett had the fourth tally while Rothwell had the final one.

“We had 32 shots and their goalie played fantastic,” said Pioneers head coach Mamie Reardon.

Lynnfield goalie Emily Dickey had an easy day, as she only had to make a pair of saves to record the shutout and improve to 3-1.

Defeats Rockport

The Pioneers defeated Rockport 2-0 on Sept. 13.

The game was scoreless at the half.

“I moved Lily to the left side and she ended up scoring both goals,” pointed out Reardon about the halftime adjustment.

Rothwell scored her first goal with 23:40 left and the final one with 6:15 remaining. Brianna Barrett, Ashley’s twin sister, assisted on the first one while the second one was unassisted.

Dickey, a junior, recorded her first career shutout with three saves.

Upcoming games

The next two games for the Pioneers will be at home. They welcome Pentucket on Thursday, Sept. 21 and Georgetown on Monday, Sept. 25. Both games will start at 3:45 p.m.
