BYFIELD — The LHS girls’ track and field team knew they had a very difficult task going up against Triton and North Reading this week. The Hornets, fresh off a state relay championship were still in the groove, but the Pioneers had plenty of good performances to build off of for the rest of the season.

Lynnfield got first place in six events.

Aja Parker was especially impressive as she got first in two events. The senior finished first against Triton in both the 110 hurdles (17.59) and the triple jump (32-1/1”).

Senior Kate Mitchell was first overall once again in the 800 meters, as she flew past any and all Hornets and Vikings for a time of 2:17.35.

Mitchell’s sister, freshman Ashley Mitchell, took home first place in the mile against Triton with a 5:31. That was also good for second against the Hornets. Sophomore Emma Ricciardi ran a 5:53.93 for third overall.

Senior Juliana Passatempo ran a 69.45 in the 400 hurdles which was first against the Vikings and second against the Hornets. Passatempo also ran in the 400 meters where her 1:04.43 was second against North Reading and third against Triton. Freshman Laura Braconnier took home third in the 400 meters (1:05.89) against the Hornets.

Junior Sarah Crockett finished first in the high jump against North Reading and third against Triton with a 4’8”. Sophomore Danielle Percoskie also cleared 4’8”.

Junior Gabriella Passatempo took second against Triton and third against North Reading in the two mile (13:47.23) while junior Ann Olsen took third against Triton (14:08.7).

Junior Mia DeGeorge got second in the discus against both teams with an 85’9”. Senior Emory Caswell got third overall with an 83’3”. Caswell also got second against North Reading in the shot put with a 29’11.5”.

Also getting third place against the Vikings were sophomore Ashley Sjoberg in the long jump (14-10) and junior Sabrina Al-Mayahi in the javelin (82’4”).

The Pioneers had their last regular season meet vs. Amesbury and Masco at Masco on Tuesday after press time.
