LYNNFIELD — Members of the LHS Pioneer football team came together this summer and had a successful end of July, winning two tournaments.

The Pioneers won the “Battle for Interstate 95” hosted in Lynnfield which included Peabody, Triton Regional and Poland Regional (Maine).

Lynnfield also won the Tuesday Night League out of Wilmington on July 31, defeating Andover in the final 13-12.

Over the course of July, the Pioneers had wins over Austin Prep, Burlington, Pope John, Billerica, Winchester, Andover and Acton Boxboro in regular pool play.

Captains Anthony Floramo, John Lee and Clayton Marengi did a great job leading the skill position players in these tournaments.

The Pioneers also got great defensive play from seniors Colby Clattenburg and Aidan McCormack.

The offense got a jolt from juniors Blake Peters and DJ Capachietti.

Junior Jack Ford played a crucial role on both sides of the ball for Lynnfield.

The Pioneers will continue to prepare for a the 2019 season in which they are looking forward to making progress head coach Pat Lamusta’s second season at the helm.

Lynnfield has scheduled a tough preseason slate to help them get ready for the season. Their first scrimmage is Aug. 24 against Masco. They will then tune up against Salem and Melrose before their season opener on Sept. 13 at home against Newburyport.
