Former head baseball coach at LHS

PEABODY — Bobby “Coach” Lesser, of Peabody, passed away on March 26, 2018.

He was the beloved husband of Ernestine (Zolla) Lesser. He was the dear son of the late Henry and Miriam ‘Mid” (Fredman) Lesser. He was the devoted father of Joy Lesser Rothschild and her husband Dr. Henry Rothschild; Bonnie Lesser and her husband David McCarthy; and Michael Lesser. He was the dear grandfather of Raef and Francesca Rothschild.  He was the dear brother of Verna Burnim and her late husband Kal.

The Lesser and Hacker families, under the late Henry Hacker and Bob’s dad the late Henry Lesser, founded Camp Cedar in Casco, Maine in 1954.  Bob was an essential part of Cedar’s earlier days coaching baseball. Bobby went on to be the head baseball coach at Lynnfield High School, where he won state championships in baseball and girls’ softball.

Bob was an inspiration to countless young people throughout his career and his impact will be felt forever.
