LYNNFIELD — Alfred J. French, 93, of Lynnfield, formerly of Chelsea died, Sunday, July 8, 2018 at his residence in Lynnfield.

Alfred was born on January 21, 1925 in Chelsea and was the son of the late Alfred and Lillian (Foley) French.

He was raised Chelsea and Lynnfield and was a graduate of Boston University. He later went on the serve as a Sergeant in the US Army Air Corps during WWII. He was a veteran of many combat missions during his two years of active duty service. Alfred was a pilot engineer for the former Eastern Airlines out of Logan Airport and eventually retired as a Professor of Aeronautical Engineering at Wentworth Institute of Boston. For many years he and his late wife Marie were residents of Fort Myers, Florida.

Alfred was the beloved husband of the late Marie (Shea) French. He was also the loving father of the late Robert and Thomas French.

His funeral service was held in the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield, Wednesday, July 11. Visitation for relatives and friends was held prior to the service. Interment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery, Lynnfield.
