Veteran of the Korean War

WAKEFIELD — Alfred R. “Big Al” Bruzzese, Jr., 83, of Wakefield, formerly of Revere, died on Friday, June 1, 2018 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers. 

Born in Boston, January 10, 1935, he was the son of the late Alfred R., Sr. and Olympia (Basile) Bruzzese.

“Big Al” was a graduate of Revere High School class of 1953. He served in the Navy during the Korean Conflict. In 1975, he went into the transportation business which is now known as AMA Transportation of Billerica, which was named after his three sons. He was a member of the Revere Knights of Columbus and the Kiwanis Club. He was also very active in Revere Youth Sports.

Alfred is survived by his beloved wife Ann (Amoroso) Bruzzese. He is also survived by his two sons: Mark Bruzzese and his wife Roberta; and Anthony Bruzzese, and his wife Lisa all of Wakefield. He was preceded in death by his son Alfred Bruzzese III, and brother Richard Bruzzese. He is also survived by his five grandchildren: Erika, Taylor, Anthony, Adam and Dante, his daughter-in-law Robyn Bruzzese of Lynnfield, and several nieces and nephews.

His funeral was held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Wednesday, June 6 at 9 a.m., followed by a funeral mass in St. Anthony’s of Padua Catholic Church, 250 Revere St., Revere at 10 a.m. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, June 5. Interment, Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Alfred’s name to the Kaplan Family Hospice House, 78 Liberty Street, Danvers, MA 01923.
