Retired general surgeon

LYNN — Dr. Thomas F. O’Leary Jr., 89, entered into rest on Dec. 7, 2019. His wife Sheila, and forever love, was at his side with his family in attendance.

He was the eldest son of Thomas F. O’Leary Sr. and Mary B (Gore) O’Leary of Roslindale. His dear sister Joan Marie O’Leary, and younger brother Attorney Richard R. O’Leary predeceased him.

He leaves his brother John R. O’Leary and his wife Elizabeth of Wildwood, Fla.; and nephews John O’Leary Jr. and family; Stephen O’Leary and family; Marybeth Mayo and family; and his caregivers Linda Cianprocca and Marsha Coffee.

He enjoyed reading many books about history. He was passionate about education and attended Salem State University after retiring.

He graduated from Harvard in 1952 and Boston College School of Medicine in 1956. He was a general surgeon at Lynn Hospital and Union Hospital for many years retiring in 1988.

He will be missed by all who knew him.

Visiting hours were held on Friday, Dec. 13 at Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home, 157 Maple St., Lynn. His funeral was from the Cuffe-McGinn funeral home on Saturday, Dec. 14. His funeral Mass was celebrated at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, Lynnfield. Interment took place at Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.
