WASHINGTON, D.C. — Elizabeth “Betty” Young, born on March 14, 1951, in Winchester, passed away on October 14, 2018, in her home in Washington D.C. after a long bout with cancer.

She graduated from Lynnfield High School in 1969 and received a bachelor of arts degree from The University of Massachusetts in Amherst in 1973. Elizabeth spent her adult life in Washington D.C., working for the Bureau of National Affairs.

She leaves behind a sister and brother-in-law, Nancy (Young) Fillip and Alan Fillip of Pepperell. She also leaves behind her life-long friend, Margaret Myers. Elizabeth has two nephews, four nieces and six grand-nieces and nephews.

A memorial service was held at The New York Avenue Presbyterian Church in Washington D.C. on Monday, Oct. 22. In lieu of flowers, people may make a donation to the American Cancer Society in Elizabeth’s name.
