Enjoyed gardening, cooking, traveling and her dogs

LYNNFIELD   Karen E. Duffy of Lynnfield, formerly of Wakefield, died unexpectedly on Friday, Oct. 26, 2018.

Karen was the youngest of four children and graduated from Wakefield High School in 1986. Karen worked as a successful mortgage underwriter for many years, most recently with Caliber Mortgage Loans. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, traveling, shopping and visiting with family and friends. She especially liked fishing and spending time with her dogs.

She leaves behind her devoted husband of 22 years, William P. Duffy; her mother Barbara M. Philbrick of Wakefield; a sister Susan M Celikmen of North Andover; a nephew, Adam I. Celikmen of North Andover; and a niece, Cassidy P. Mills and her husband Anthony of Rye, New Hampshire. Karen’s father, Dean H. Philbrick; a sister Donna Ann Ward; and a brother, Dean Paul Philbrick, predeceased her. Karen also leaves a large number of Walsh family loving aunts, uncles and cousins.

Karen’s in-laws were: Florence C. and William J. Duffy of Stoneham; Deborah A. Bruton of Melrose; Paul J. Duffy of North Andover; Daniel F. Duffy (deceased) of Stoneham; David J. Duffy (deceased) of Tewksbury; Donna M. Westlake of Tewksbury; and Gayle Duffy of Stoneham. Karen also leaves behind her treasured dogs, Winston and Maxwell.

Private arrangements took place at McDonald Funeral Home in Wakefield on Nov. 2.
