TYNGSBOROUGH — Kevin W. McCaughey, 53, of Tyngsborough, formerly of Melrose, died unexpectedly at the Beverly Hospital on Oct. 10, 2017.

Kevin was born in Somerville and raised in Melrose. He was a graduate of Melrose High School Class of 1982 and went on to earn his degree from North Shore Community College. Kevin resided in Peabody for five years and Tyngsborough for the past 18 years. He worked as a technician for Pepsi Bottling Group for 25 years and enjoyed going on trips to the Caribbean and Prince Edward Island. Kevin had a “Big Heart,” loved cars, animals, playing pool, riding motorcycles and dirt bikes. He was a great son, brother and friend to many in his neighborhood and had many childhood friends.

Kevin was the beloved husband of Elizabeth A. (Nigrelli) McCaughey for 20 years. He was the devoted son of Joseph P. and Mary L. (MacMillan) McCaughey of Melrose. He was the caring brother of Jack McCaughey and his wife Sheri of New Hampshire; Bob McCaughey and his wife Lisa of Boxford; and MaryAnn Wells and her husband Glen of Stoneham.  He was the son-in-law of Edith Salvatore and her husband Robert of Lynnfield; and the late John Nigrelli, Sr.  He was the brother-in-law of Louise Sheehan and her husband Tim of Tewksbury; Frank Nigrelli and Laurie Lunderville of Lowell; John Nigrelli, Jr. of Vermont; and Melanie Nigrelli of Lowell.  He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Visiting hours were held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 West Foster St., Melrose on Sunday, Oct. 15. Procession was from the Gately Funeral Home on Monday, Oct. 16, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in the Church of the Incarnation, 425 Upham St., Melrose. Burial took place in Puritan Lawn Cemetery, Peabody.
