Member of the Lynnfield Police Department for 29 years

LYNNFIELD — Leonard F. “Lenny” Rothwell, 76, died on Saturday, Jan. 20, 2018.

Born in Boston on November 21, 1941, he was the son of the late Louis and Grace (Nagle) Rothwell.

Lenny was raised and educated in Lynn. He had retired from the Lynnfield Police Department after 29 years of service as a crime prevention officer. In addition to being on the Police Department, Lenny was also the owner of Colonial Carpet Cleaner in Lynnfield.

He is survived by his wife, Paula (DiBiase) Rothwell. He is also survived by his four children: Kimberly Rothwell and her fiancé Christopher Cordima of Ipswich; Kevin Rothwell and his wife Jennifer of Lynnfield; Karen Rothwell of Haverhill; and Brenden Rothwell of Lynnfield. He is also survived by his sister, Lois Pelkey and her husband Jerry of Florida. He is also survived by his brothers, Jimmy Rothwell of Salem; and Kenny Rothwell of Lynnfield. He is also survived by his four grandchildren: Emily, Meghan, Christopher, and Lily.

A private funeral Mass was celebrated in Our Lady of Assumption Church, followed by interment at Forest Hill Cemetery in Lynnfield. Arrangements were in the care of the McDonald Funeral Home, Wakefield.
