MELROSE — Marie A. (Benoit) McCusker, 77, of Melrose, died at the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital on June 18, 2019.

Marie was born and raised in Dalhousie, New Brunswick, Canada and came to the United States at the age of 17. She resided in Medford for several years and then Melrose for almost 60 years. Marie worked at Alpha Industries in Woburn for over 20 years before her retirement. She loved spending time with her beloved dog “Bijou.” She also loved cooking, shopping, fashion and decorating for family holidays. Marie enjoyed traveling to Booth Bay and Fryeburg, Maine, as well as back to New Brunswick, Canada to visit with family.

Marie’s family would like to take this time to thank all of the staff at both the Bear Hill Nursing Center and the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital for all the kindness and care in her final days.

She was the beloved wife of the late Edward F. McCusker for over 50 years. She was the loving mother of Ted McCusker and his wife Susan of Lynnfield; Steven McCusker and his wife Shari of North Reading; and Susan McCusker-Short and her husband Gary of Reading. She was the cherished grandmother of Joshua, Tyler, Kelsey, Connor, Cameron, Natalie and Gary, Jr. She was the daughter of the late Valere and Yvonne (Lanteigne) Benoit. She was the caring sister of Donat Benoit, Therese Jennings and Dianne Benoit, all of New Brunswick, Canada; and the late Claude and Gilles Benoit. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Visiting hours were held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 West Foster St., Melrose on Monday, June 24, followed by a funeral service. Burial was private.
