Devoted matriarch, incredible cook

MALDEN — Mary S. (Morando) Motzkin, 101, of Malden, passed away peacefully on July 14, 2018.

Born in 1917 in Berlin, N.H., the oldest of 11, Mary was the daughter of the late Salvatore and Catherine Morando. She was the treasured wife of the late Joseph Motzkin of Malden for over 45 years. She was the cherished mother of Joseph E. and Sandra Motzkin, Suzanne B. Waite, James R. Motzkin and Irina Tsvetkova, and Susan M. Motzkin.

She was the beloved grandmother of Karen W. and David Abramson; Joseph H. and Lisa Motzkin; Kimberly Waite Dodd; the late Michael M. Motzkin; Jennifer and Matthew Rodriquez; and James S. and Sarah Motzkin. She was the great-grandmother of Joseph L. Motzkin, Amanda M. Motzkin, Carson A. Dodd, Alexandra E. Abramson, Logan S. Dodd, James K. Motzkin and Lily J. Motzkin. She is also survived by her brother Dominic Morando and her sister Ann Morando, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Much loved and adored, wonderful wit, incredible cook, devoted matriarch. Rest peacefully. We will love and remember you forever.

Relatives and friends attended visiting hours on Monday, July 16, in the Weir-MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem St., Malden. Mary’s funeral Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Anthony’s of Padua, 250 Revere St., Revere on Tuesday, July 17, followed by entombment in Holy Cross Mausoleum, Malden.
