Veteran was top sales supervisor, gas station owner

LYNNFIELD — Ronald J. Clancy, 78, died peacefully on Monday morning, Jan. 4, 2021, with his wife, of 49 years, Nancy, by his side.
Born on May 6, 1942, Ron was the son of the late George and Alice (Creamer) Clancy of Dorchester. He attended Boston Trade High School, where he excelled in school and was captain of both the hockey and football teams. He attended Boston University and majored in Business Management.
In 1964, Ron began a 10-year career with Texaco Corporation, receiving Texaco’s Vice President’s Award as the number one sales supervisor in the United States.
Ron was a veteran of the United States Army Reserves and was activated to the 241st Military Intelligence unit in 1968. To better serve the family life and values he believed in, Ron purchased and managed Chestnut Hill Texaco, a gasoline and auto repair station, for 33 years. During this time, Chestnut Hill Texaco was considered one of the top 10 gasoline stations in Massachusetts.
Ron also served as president of the Service Station Retailers Association. After retiring, Ron worked as a Transportation Security Administration lead agent at Logan Airport for five years.
Nancy and Ron met one summer at a chance encounter in Falmouth. It was the beginning of a lifetime of love and happiness. Together, they raised four children in Canton. Wonderful times were spent cheering their children on at sporting events, spending time in their family pool with relatives and friends, and skiing at Waterville Valley. Twelve grandchildren enriched his life in his later years, each one unique and special. Family came first for Ron; his children always knew how much he loved them. His legacy of family and love will live on with us forever.
Ron is survived by his loving wife Nancy (Hoff) Clancy; plus a daughter and son-in-law, Allison (Clancy) and John Lindstrom of North Attleboro. He is also survived by three sons and daughters-in-law: Dr. Ryan and Jessica Clancy of Lynnfield; Brett and Alicia Clancy of Sudbury; and Sean and Kristie Clancy of Skaneateles, New York. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren: Hannah and Kelsie Lindstrom of North Attleboro; Nathaniel, Victoria, Benjamin and Isabella Clancy of Lynnfield; Rowan and Myles Clancy of Sudbury; and Elizabeth, William, Henry, and Caroline Clancy of Skaneateles, New York. He is also survived by his brother Richard Clancy; and his sister Barbara (Clancy) and her husband Eugene McDermott. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Ron was predeceased by his sister Frances Laurence and his brother George Clancy.
Funeral services will be private. Interment will be at Oak Grove Cemetery in Medford.
