MELROSE — Mary E. (Gordon) Delaney, 101, passed away at the Greenwood Nursing Home and Rehab in Wakefield on July 10, 2019.

Mary was born in Melrose on May 25, 1918 to the late William and Mary B. (Sheridan) Gordon. She was raised in Melrose, attended Melrose schools and graduated from Malden Business School. Mrs. Delaney was a lifelong resident of Melrose and was a founding member of Incarnation Church in Melrose. She worked as a secretary for the Melrose Parks and Recreation Department for 15 years, retiring at the age of 65.

Mary liked to crochet, sew and was an excellent baker. Mrs. Delaney also enjoyed her trip to Saudi Arabia and to Nova Scotia.

Mary was the wife of the late Paul B. Delaney. Loving mother of Daniel J. Delaney and his wife Carol of Atkinson, N.H. and Paul B. Delaney and his late wife Rosemary of Woburn. Cherished grandmother of Christine M. Crudele and husband Peter of Danvers and Laura D. Craiton and husband Matt of Texas. Proud great-grandmother of Claire, Anna Grace, Jackson and Zoey Rose. Caring sister of Marion Sheridan of Tewksbury, Lucille Malenchini of N.H. and the late Richard Mara. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose on Wednesday, July 17, followed by a funeral service. Interment followed at Wyoming Cemetery in Melrose.
