WAKEFIELD — Mary E. Maguire, 93, of Wakefield, passed away peacefully on Thursday September 20, 2018 at Oosterman’s Rest Home in Melrose.

She was the daughter of the late John and Maria (Nunes) Souza and the devoted wife of the late Francis J. Maguire. A resident of Greenwood for the past 91 years, Mary was a graduate of Wakefield High School; a lifelong member of the Most Blessed Sacrament Parish where she had previously served as a Eucharistic Minister and a committee officer of the Women’s Guild; a longtime member of the Wakefield Bowladrome Friday Morning league; and a frequent election poll worker for the town.

She was a loving mother to her sons, James F. Maguire and his wife Carol of Boston, Thomas G. Maguire and his wife MaryAnn of Wakefield, Gary E. Maguire and his wife Bonnie of Wakefield; and to her daughter Mary Jean and son-in-law Donald Robinson of Thatcham, England. She was a devoted grandmother to her 10 grandchildren: Jane, Greg, Tommy, Caroline, Ryan, Kerri, Sean, Meghan, Emily and Jillian; and three great-grandchildren: Lily, Giselle, and Aaliyah. She was cherished by her brothers: Frank, George “Pete,” the late Manuel, John and Joseph Souza.

Mary thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her family, attending social events with her friends, league bowling, watching Red Sox games and extensively travelling throughout Europe. Her warm hugs and many little sayings will be sorely missed by all who knew her.

Visitation will be held at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave, Wakefield on Wednesday, Oct. 3 from 4-8 p.m. A Mass celebrating her life will be held Thursday, Oct. 4 at 10 a.m. in the Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 1155 Main St, Wakefield followed by burial at Forest Glade Cemetery, Wakefield.
