Mary_Joan_Key-obit_webWAKEFIELD — Mary Joan Key passed away on Saturday, September 2. She spent her final days resting in her family home and went peacefully after a long and noble struggle with the conditions associated with advanced Alzheimer’s disease.
Mary Joan Key was born on December 24,1932.
Joan, or often known as “Nana,” moved back to Wakefield in 1992 to be with her family after her beloved husband of 32 years, Ralph A. Key, passed on July 4, 1990, on their farm along the Sugar River in New Hampshire. She joins him now in their ‘Ever After.’
Together they raised two amazing children, Patricia of Wakefield and Ralph Jr. and his wife, Doreen, of Bristol, RI.
Joan lived with and helped raise Patricia’s son, Brandon Key, now of Salem. She was blessed to gain four more beautiful grandchildren through marriages, and leaves behind Kelly Collins of Wakefield, Allison Trull and Ashley Trull of Providence, RI, and Jefferey Trull of Portland, OR. She was well loved by so many, but especially her nephew Phillip Legge of Honolulu, HI, and her adopted sister, Patricia Titus of Cedar Glenn, CO.
Her light might have faded, but she lit up every room she entered and every life she touched.
The family is having a private Celebration of Life along with some close friends on Saturday, September 9. They extend their love and gratitude to all those who send their blessings.
