WAKEFIELD — Mary Rose Anjim, 73, of Wakefield, died Wednesday, May 22, 2019 at her residence surrounded by family.

Born in Damascus, Syria on September 30, 1945 she was the daughter of the late Habib and Hneneh (Abou-Hamad) Sulaiman.

Mary Rose was raised in Damascus, Syria where she was a caretaker to her family. She met her husband, Elias Anjim, in Syria and together they emigrated to the United States in 1971, settling in Wakefield and raising their family. She was a devoted wife and cherished her role as a stay at home mother, working to run her home and raise her five children. She was an amazing cook and made excellent Middle Eastern cuisine. In later years, she relished spending time with her grandchildren. Mary Rose was a very peaceful and deeply religious woman and was a parishioner of both St. Joseph and St. Florence Church.

She was the beloved wife of Elias H. Anjim. She was the loving mother of John Anjim and his wife Jihan of Wakefield, Janet Chankhour and her husband Tony of Wakefield, Rita Albezer and her husband Fadi of California, Christine Laow and her husband Elias of California, and Mark Anjim of Wakefield. She was the cherished grandmother of Alyssa, Alana, Michael, Victoria, Jessica, Christian, Mary Rose, Elias, Ava, Jonathan, and Angelina. She was the sister of Tony and Abraham Sulaiman and the late George Sulaiman.

Visitation for relatives and friends at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Saturday from 9-11 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 173 Albion St., Wakefield at 11:30 a.m. Interment, Forest Glade Cemetery, Wakefield.
