WAKEFIELD — Mary Grace Rubino, 95, of Wakefield and formerly of Melrose died Thursday February 28, 2019 in Peabody.

Mary was born in Boston on November 11, 1923 and was the daughter of the late James and Mary (Serino) Sarni. Mary was raised in Melrose and was a graduate St. Mary’s Academy and later from Boston University. She was a member of the American Association of University Women, past member of the Women’s Board of the Don Orion Home in East Boston, the Garden Club of Wakefield and Ladies Sodality of St. Joseph Church and the Secular Franciscan Order. Mary had also worked for American Airlines and served as a substitute teacher in the Wakefield Public Schools.

She was the beloved wife of the late Stephen Rubino. She was the loving mother of Pamela Fromer and her husband Peter of N.C., Donna Coe and her husband Donald of Maine and Maryjane and Annmarie Rubino of Wakefield. She was the sister of James Sarni, Jr. of Melrose and the late Ralph and John Sarni. She was the loving grandmother of Alison Hennessey and husband John, Ashley Firmin and husband Josh and Justin and Brandon Fromer and great- grandmother of Molly, Kliness and Magnolia. She is also survived by her companion Mort Netzorg.

Her funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home 19 Yale Ave. Wakefield on Tuesday at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass in St. Joseph Church 173 Albion St. Wakefield at 10 a.m. Interment will be at the V.A. National Cemetery in Bourne. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the funeral Home on Monday from 4-7 p.m.
