READING — Matthew J. “Buck” MacDonald, 50, a 20 year resident of Reading, passed away unexpectedly at home on Tuesday, July 9, 2019.

Matt was born in Lowell on February 21, 1969. Raised and educated in Lowell, Matt received his GED before working for himself in bath refinishing and re-glazing. Known to many as “Buck” he was married to Kathleen DuBois and they resided in Reading with son, Jamie.

A free spirited and passionate musician, Buck loved playing the guitar and singing. He played in the local rock band the “Gello Shots” and played almost every instrument at one time or another. In particular, he loved classic rock especially “Styx.”

A jack of all trades, Matt was also very interested in woodworking. For many years, he perfected the art of crafting wooden guitar pipes, and offered them for sale or as gifts. He was always working on perfecting the design in different wood species, and had many in progress around the house.

In his free time, Buck enjoyed spending time with family and friends socializing in the backyard, or catching some of the Red Sox or Patriots games. Full of life, Matt also enjoyed visiting Laconia, N.H. for bike week. He will be deeply missed, but always lovingly remembered.

Matt was the beloved husband of Kathleen M. MacDonald with whom he shared 16 years of marriage. Devoted father of Jamie MacDonald of Reading. Cherished son of Kevin MacDonald of Reading and Rita McAdoo of Florida. Loving brother of Ryan and Eric MacDonald, both of Maine. Caring son-in-law of Margaret R. “Marty” DuBois of Reading and the late Peter DuBois.

Family and friends were invited to gather in honor of Matt’s life for a Memorial Mass at St. Agnes Church, 186 Woburn St., Reading on Wednesday, July 17. For online tribute, or directions, visit RobinsonFuneralHome.com Life Celebration by Robinson Funeral Home, Melrose.
