STONEHAM — Maureen Hartley, 63, passed away on September 2, 2018 at Massachusetts General Hospital, after a brief illness.

She was the beloved wife of Hank Hartley, and mother of Sean Hartley, both of Stoneham. She was the daughter of the late Anthony Parro, and Mary Parro of South Yarmouth. She was the sister of Bob Parro of Ipswich, Rosa Parro of Tewksbury, Michael Parro of Melrose, Anna Buckley of Dracut, Danny Parro of Ipswich and Kathleen Parro of Saugus. She also had numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.

Maureen graduated Melrose High School in 1972. After high school she attended nursing school, and began her nursing career as an LPN at Malden Hospital in 1977, working there until 1992. She worked the remainder of her nursing career at Winchester Hospital. She loved working with new mothers and babies in the maternity ward, where she was known for her patient and tender care.

Maureen was an active member of the Stoneham Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses for over forty years. She cultivated many close friendships over that time. She took an interest in young people and was considered like a big sister to many in the congregation.

Maureen’s favorite hobbies were gardening, growing many different kinds of flowers. She also loved taking long walks with her Silky Terrier, Tommy. Maureen loved family vacations at Cape Cod, the mountains of New Hampshire, and in Clearwater, Florida.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 15 at the Saugus Kingdom Hall at 3:30 p.m.
