MELROSE — One of the most looked-forward-to fundraisers in the city is almost here. Sunday, March 25 will see the very popular Chili/Chowder Challenge set up at the Lt. Norman Prince VFW Post #1506 located at 428 Main Street in downtown Melrose. Hours are from 12 to 3 p.m., and with a $10 admission, you will be able to taste the down-home, delicious, delectable dishes all vying to be the best in their categories.

Featured will be many different chili, chowder, and mac ‘n’ cheese recipes prepared and being served by various groups. Diners will find local students, city departments, and politicians, clubs and organizations, and several restaurants, etc., and the “Taste Experience Extraodinaire” is sure to please all in attendance.

The fundraiser will benefit the upcoming veterans motor coach trip to Washington, D.C. in May, and the continued refurbishing and rebuilding of Veterans Park at the Knoll across the street from the Melrose Veterans Memorial Middle School on Lynn Fells Parkway.

This is the perfect opportunity to come support veterans in general, and local Melrose veterans in particular. Plan on coming by, enjoy the many tastes provided, and vote for your favorites.

Presently the Melrose Emblem Club #89 is the four-time winner of Best Clam Chowder, so be sure you find our table, taste the great chowder offered, and give us a vote to make it our fifth year running.
