“You could really feel the energy in the room,” said attendee Eugenia Gibbons. “I think people are inspired by Sam’s message. It was good to hear from someone who has actually experienced the challenges of living in Massachusetts.”

Hammar spoke to the crowd about the frustrating pace of progress on Beacon Hill. “We need decision makers who understand that while they work session to session, their constituents live paycheck to paycheck,” she said. Hammar’s platform focuses on working families and includes issues such as access to child and senior care, student loan debt, paid family and medical leave, and affordable housing.

The next “Hammar Time” event is scheduled for Tuesday, March 27 in Malden. A Wakefield event is scheduled for April 10. Visit samhammar.org to view a schedule of events.
