AMESBURY — Constance “Connie” Baumgartner, 88, longtime resident of Amesbury, and formerly of East Boston, died peacefully on Tuesday, May 19, 2020 with her family by her side.

Born in Boston on October 5, 1931, Connie was one of four children of the late Tom and Antonia (nee Famolare) Console. She grew up in Boston and got married to the late Philip Baumgartner in 1955.

Settling in East Boston, they started their family. She worked as a lunch monitor at the Curtis Guild Elementary School. When she turned 50, she decided to go back to school and received her CNA certification. She went to work at Columbus Nursing Home where she worked for many years. She loved her work as a nursing assistant. It brought much joy to her life.

While her work as a nursing assistant brought her joy, true fulfillment came from her family. She was exceptionally active in her son’s life and stayed close with him through the years. She enjoyed travelling, especially to Foxwoods for a day, or a day trip to East Boston to see the old neighborhood. If she was with her family, any trip was a good trip.

Other interests include WWII, Clarke Gable and Humphry Bogart films, and her love of cooking. She also was a huge animal lover and enjoyed holidays with her friends Michelle and Rob. Connie’s warmth, love, and generous spirit will be missed.

Connie was the former wife of the late Philip Baumgartner. Devoted mother John Baumgartner and his wife Marie of Amesbury. Loving sister of the late Benjamin, Vickie, and Angelo Console. Also survived by dear friends Michelle and Rob Spadafora and their children Shane and Caitlyn and her late friend Geraldine Dicillio.

In accordance with current public health regulations, private services will be held with a celebration of life being held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, gifts in Connie’s memory may be made to the Animal Rescue League of Boston, 10 Chandler St. Boston, MA. 02116.
