MELROSE — Anthony C. “Tony” Fulginiti, 96, of Melrose, died at the Sawtelle Family Hospice House in Reading on Jan. 31, 2019.

Tony was born and raised in North Adams and a graduate of Drury High School. He went on to earn his bachelor’s degree in music with honors from the New England Conservatory of Music and also Tanglewood School in Lenox in orchestral and chamber music training.

Tony proudly served his country in the U.S. Army as a Rifle Marksman receiving a Bronze Star during WWII, serving in Italy, France and Africa.

Tony taught at the University of Lowell as a clarinet instructor for 16 years and also as an instrument repairman for the Boston Public Schools for 10 years. He was member of the V.F.W. Harold O. Young Post #2394 in Melrose, the Melrose D.A.V., Beethoven Society and was a member of the Church of the Incarnation choir for many years. Tony had an exceptional music career working with the Minneapolis Symphony Orchestra, San Antonio Symphony & Opera Orchestra, Opera Company of Boston, Lyric Opera Company, Boston Ballet Orchestra, Boston Symphony and Boston Pops Orchestra, Musica Viva Chamber Group, Tanglewood with the Boston Symphony Orchestra, Marlboro Festival Group and the Worcester Symphony Orchestra.

He was the beloved husband of Angeline (Restino) Fulginiti. Loving father of Margaret Rose Dougherty and her husband Daniel, Carla F. Lagares, all of Melrose and Lisa M. Oliver and her husband William of Burlington. Cherished grandfather of Nicholas, Francesca, Allison and Julia. Predeceased by six siblings and also survived by nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Funeral services will be private. Arrangements by the Gately Funeral Home in Melrose.
